THE DRAINAGE BOARD ENGINEERSHIP.
The Drainage Board's new engineer, Mr Archibald Slinger, has resigned. His resignation was accepted by the Board at a special meeting called for eleven o'clock this morning. Mr Slinger s letter of resignation set forth the reason for the step. He had received an appointment in connection with the construction of the dock at Port Chalmers.
The Board went into committee at the outset and considered the position to which this action- gives rise. The appointment of a new engineer was discussed* and something definite will probabiv be evolved before the Board's next meeting on Tuesday next. The members of the Board present were Messrs Burnett (chairman), Scott, Arkle, Small, Marlow, Christie, Gore, Hancock, and Df Fulton. We have tho best authority for that the appointment has been offered to Mr A. Dillon 8011, M.1.C.E., who is at present Engineer-in-chief to tho Westralian Government. He is in receipt of a salary of £7OO per annum/
