AUSTRALIA ATTACKED
NOVELIST AND STATISTICIAN. Vital A»*o«i»i»o—By T«l«gr»ph—Copyright LONDON, November 4. Mr Huine Nisbet, novelist, writing in the ' Daily Graphic,' violently attacked the labor unions, accusing them of tyranny in Australia, and declaring that no Home immigrant would receive the slightest show of justice or friendliness at their hands. Mr Coghlan (AgemVGeneral for New South Wales) replied, stating that Mr Nisbet was drunk with rage. Since the trades union members numbered only 150,000 out of 1,100,000 male adults, it was a mystery how they could fiendishly tyrannise. Replying to the Financier's Melbourne correspondent's comment., Mr Coghlan declares that Australia's population has increased by 91,592 during the last two years. [Mr Nisbet, artist and novelist, knows Australia well. He spent seven years there between 1865 and 1872, travelled through it for Messrs Cassells in 1886, and revisited in 1895. Ho has written works on art and travel, and over forty romances.]
