The Committee of tie Wellington independent Political League have determined to open the election campaign in that city the first week in October.

In accordance with a request contained in a numerously-signed requisition, Mr Joseph Sealey has agieed to contest the Ashburton seat in the Liberal interest. In order to ensure a straight-oat fight with Mr Sfcadholme (Opposition),, afiub-committee of Mr Sealery's friends will wait on Mr MTJacblan, the sitting member, and ask him not to contest the seat. The Liberal and Labor Federation at Wellington have selected Mir W. M'Leazi as the Liberal candidate for Wellington East.
