M. PobiedonostzefT has warned the Czar that if he breaks his oaths to preserve the autocracy others -will violate theirs, thus causing the ruin of both Church and State. A nobleman named Ivantzky, on the pretext of presenting a petition, tried to assassinate the Chief of the Police in his office at Ekaterinodav. The shot missed, and Ivantzky was arrested. There are tremendous snowdrifts and many deaths in the south. The Kharkoff express completely disappeared. It is supposed to be covered by a snowdrift.
