The Primate (Bishop Nevill) b.m returned from a week’s visit to Riverton and. district, where he consecrated two churches and heid three confirmations. Constable Diury is to b© transferred from Ravensboume to Green Island, and will be replaced by Constable FretwelL Air H. B, Contis, manager of the Dunedin Ooi poration gasworks, left to-day on a visit to Australia. At Messrs A and T. Burt’s brass-finish-ing department on Tuesday Mr M. DiUion. on the eve of his marriage, was presented by his JeUow-workers with a tea set and a set of cutlery. Air Whyte referred to Air Dillion’s manv good qualities both in and out of the shop. Cheers for Mr DiUion and his brido-elact were heartily given. To-day is the birthday of Queen Alexandra, who was bom on December 1, 1844. Mr A R. Barclay has been appointed a member of the Dunedin Savings Bank Trust ■ His appointment will be gazetted ttis week. Sub-inspector Green is at present cn leave. His duties are being fulfilled by Sergeant Lyons. Sir J. G. Ward left for the North by the first express to-day.
