Mr N. K. Sligo has been appomtod master of the Waikaia Company’s dredge at Waikaia, and is now overhauling tiro machinery and repairing a breakage to the winenes. Dredging is Likely to be renewed at the end of this week.
The report of the directors of the Jubilee Electric Gold Dredging Company, which will he presented to shareholders at the forthcoming annual general meeting, state, inter alia, that the total value of the gold won by the two dredges duriiig the year was £8,034 3s. The profit and loss account opened with a credit of £2,954 Is Id, to which the working year added £2,362 14s, making a total of £5,516 15s Id. Deducting a dividend of Is, which absorbed £1,300, and the property account (written down by £2,322 0s Id), the sum of £1,694 15s was left to be carried forward. The returns from the No. 2 dredge have not been remunerative, and arrangements with regard to her future are now under - consideration, the directors expecting to submit an alteration of her position to the shareholders. The No. 2 claim is almost worked out, except for about thirteen acres and a-half, and the Board are considering the advisability of cancelling the claim. The thirteen and a-balf acres would, however, be retained. The No, 1 claim has abont twelve chains of untouched ground at the top of the claim and fifteen chains in other parts of the claim, that should give fair returns. RETURNS.
