A public meeting was held in the rooms of the Theosophical Society. Liverpool street, on Wednesday, when those present weie addressed by .\Lr A. W. Maurais, tho subject being ‘God and the Egor The speaker gave a sketch of an Eastern philosophy which showed Paraibrahm as a mysterious background from which, at the beginnings of a universe, proceeded the Logos and cosmic matter. .Through the Logos was manifestej tho light of the Logos, which was the one font of energy—vital, mental, and material, the latter term favoring tho idea that electrical, magnetic, and other forces were ponderable. Cosmic matter completed the trinity, and formed the body of the universe, of which the light of the Logos was the sou! and the Logos the spirit. Enveloping Himsen in the cosmic matter, the logos so reflected Binteelf in it that every atom contained in latency Hia own powers and attributes, one of which war the sense of Ego or I-ness. _ Thus He multiplied Himself by projecting unnumbered centres of consciousness. After long periods of time spent amid the vicissitudes of material life, each ego eventually yielded up the result of its experiences to That whence it carte. For, according to the lecturer, the Logos wus the result of the experiences of countless universes—infinite experience being the basis of the laws which ruled and guided tho cosmos. In conclusion, the speaker gave the Theosophical teachings as to the passing of experiences upwards from dm Inwct man to the east, and from the
