OTAGO AGRICULTURAL AND PASTORAL SOCIETY

The monthly meeting of the Committee of tho above was attended by Messrs James Hazlett (vice-president, in the chair), .1. Angus. W. Patrick, W. Burnett, W. H. Taggart, J. W. Blair. H. Buckland, W. Charters, Jaa. Shiel, T. Ritchie, and the Hon. T. Fergus. Before commencing the business of the day Mr J. Hazlett moved the following resolution, which was seconded bv Mr 11. Buckland, and carried in respectful sile^e.: —“ That the Committee of the Otago A. and P. Society deeply deplore the untimely death of Mr Arthur 0. Stronach, member of tho Committee and ex-president of the society, whoso loss to the Otago A. and P. Society will be irreparable, and they wish to place on record their appreciation" of the valuable services rendered by him to the Otago A. and P. Society, and also that a vote of empathy Ik; accorded to Mrs Stronach in her sad bereavement.” The Secretary of the Canterburv A. and P. Association wrote stating that his Association would do ail in their power to further the object of establishing the Thomas Bry. done scholarship at Lincoln College, and that his Committee were fully in accord with the object for which the memorial is intended.—The Secretary of the Timaru A. and P. Society wrote in a similar strain, and a. letter from the Mnnawatu and West Coast A. and P. Association stated that the matter would receive consideration. Messrs Tothill and Co., Invercargill, wrote offering a special prize of 10 guineas for the greatest number of prizes taken in roots grown from Sutton seeds at the winter show. ■Mr James. TVmuka, wrote forwarding a cheque for £5 5s towards tho funds of "the society as a token of sympathy with the good work that is being done by the society. The Secretary reported that the topdicssing hud been proceeding at Tahuna Park, and by the summer show- it was expected that, an excellent sward of gross would cover the enclosure in front of the grand stand.
