Messrs James Samson and Co report having held a successful snle at Matakanui en Wednesday, when they offered, under instructions from the trustees in the estate of the late Catherine Veilor, the Newtown Hotel, together with the freehold of two acres, and a res'kienee am of one acra, with buildhrrs. etc., theeron. Good competition was made f:,r the property, bidding for which reached £I,OCG. at which price it fell to Mr J. D. M'Lennan, of Hawea Flat. They also sold, on aecount of Mr William Walls (the licensee), his stock of groceries, etc.. al.-o horses, buggies, cows, and pigs, every lot being disposed of at excellent pries. Messrs Alex Harris and Co held to-day n sale of freehold properties situated in South Dune.-lin, on account of Mr D. Stirling. There was a iror.d attendance rf buyers. AUotnv nt 2". blwk 11. 9.2 poles, with four-roomed dwelling thereon, was sold to Mr Rr ton for £176. Section 11, block 1, township of Eorburv, 9.52 poles, with four-roomed house, ,-,nd section 17, subdivision of allotment 51, block 7, with five-roomed dwsUing [:,} sn fonr-roomed house), and containing 55.5 poles, were told for £565 in one lot. Two attached Uiree-ronmed houses in Arcyle street wero not sold, and are now open for private treaty.
