SUSPECTED SUICIDE

CHPJSTCHURCH, January 15. The inquest on Mr R. H. Parkinson was resumed to-day. The chief facts elicited were that on October 3 deceased sent Dr Palmer some sherry for analysis, and the analysis showed the sherry to be saturated with corrosive sublimate. Deceased said he suspected that attempts were being made to poison him. Dr Palmer said he was certain that poison was taken •on January 4 on the road from Waikari to Ashley Bridge, although the whisky in the flask showed no traces of poison. Witness was satisfied that death was due to an irritant poison. Dr Palmer advised Mr Parkinson to communicate with the police in connection with the sherry episode. It was the groom jn Mr Parkmson'B employ who left the sherry with Dr Palmer. Dr Sysnes's evidence was to the effect that deceased must have known he was taking tjjejooison. After further evidence was heard the inquest was adjourned to Friday next.
