Cardinal Moran and Dean O'Haran had a farewell audience, lasting half an hour., w-Ux tlie Pope, who was much consoled hy the great progress of Catholicism in Au.stralr.L He pr&teod Australia for giving the Church full liberty, and added that British influence always promoted liberty and religion. The Pope granted all Cardinal Moran's requests, and made him the depository for all apostolic benedictions for Australia. Cardinal Moran presented th« Pope with a copy of 'The. Lives of Irish Saints,' also the Peter's pence from Australia. The Pope presented Cardinal Moran with a beautiful silver statue of Our Lady of Hope.
