Mr Deakin, the Federal Premier, opens the election campaign at Ballarai on Thursday, when he will outline the Ministerial policy. October 26. (Received October 26, at 9.20 a.m.) Three of the Frenchmen who were picked up by the Cromarty had tickets of leave. The majority admitted that they had been transported, but said that their sentences bad long since expired. SYDNEY, October 26. Speaking at tie Rifle Association dinner the Federal Minister of Defence said that there was no shortage of rifles. He hoped to place an order for another 5,000. The Government intended to make their own ammunition, and. if. possible, to establish a small arms factory. ADELAIDE, October 26. There were several accidents during the Port Adelaide races, including that to Sydney Willis, the crack horseman in tie State, who was killed.
