OTAGO RUGBY UNION. At the weekly meeting of the 0.R.F.U., held yesterday afternoon, the referee in the match Kaikorai Third v. High School reported that he bad ordered a player in the former team off the field for rough play; and the referee in the match Port Chalmers v. Ravensbourne reported that he had ordered a player in each team off •the ground for rough play. It was decided to request the players concerned and the referees to attend next meeting of committee.—A letter was received from the Taranaki Union asking the Committee to reconsider their decision on the question of allowing the writers a share of the “gate” m the event of their representative team - playing a match in Dunedin this season. It was decided, after some discussion, to allow the Taranaki Union 20 per cent, of the net “gate,” with a maximum of £2s.—The referee in the match Alhambra Second v. Southern Second having in his statement to the Committee indicated that there was now a doubt in his mind as to whether the player reported actually struck at an opponent, it was resolved that no further action be taken in the matter. —It was decided to take steps to etop smoking in the grand stands, and also to prohibit betting on any part of the grounds under the control of the Union. . OTAGO FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION. The weekly meeting of the above Association was held last evening. A communication was received from the secretary of the Auckland Association asking if it was possible for an Otago team to visit them this year. It was decided to leave this matter over until some future date.— The secretary of the Wellington Association wrote asking if the Otago Football Association could send, a junior team to Christchurch to play a match there against a Wellington junior team. it was decided not to fall in with this suggestion. The Committee decided to get 500 copies of the ‘Rules of Association’ printed and distributed amongst’the .players.—lt was decided, also, that the Wednesday players should be classed as second grade players, but that those playing on Saturdays and Wednesdays should be classed as Saturday players and graded so. y GROUNDS FOR SATURDAY.
