It may not be generally known, but it is a fact, that King Edward commenced his turf operations this season with a very strong team of horses, and good judges expected him to leave his mark distinctly before the season closes. The members of the team in question are described as being very good sorts, thirteen of them being by the Derby and t>t. Leger winner Persimmon, and they are all trained at Egerton House stables. The Sultan of Johore, who is touring the Commonwealth, has already given evidence that he intends racing more Australian horses in India He increased his equine possessions to the extent of four jearlings at Adelaide, and it appears to be no secret that he is also on the look-out for a good performer or two to carry his c.lnrs. His Highness, who is a liberal buyer, has had a fair experience of Australian horses, for at one time and another he owned Dewey, Parthenopaeus, Marrara, Culjean, Disfigured, Ninepins, and Plutus. •"
