rhere was a singular sight at .Scar borough (England) on the occasion of the funeral of Mr Burke Nicholson, or "Old Burke," as he was popularly known from Whitby to Bridlington and from Scarborough to Pickering. For forty years he had been a brewer's drayman, and his last wish was that his coffin should be conveyed to the cemetery on the dray drawn by his horses. The dray was draped with blaik, the coffin surmounted with beautiful wreaths, and the large attendance showed the respect in which deceased was held. He was a well-known character, and in the prime of his manhood was famous for his great strength. At that time he could carry a sack of barley under each arm.
