CHARITABLE AID BOARD.

The meeting of the above yesterday was attended by. Messrs F. Miller (chairman), J. Thomson, W. Baird, W. Burnett, J. Sim, W. Wills, W. Robertson, B. Gibson, and J. Hazlett. The Benevolent Trustees forwarded a requisition for £6OO for the month, and also one kg £7,750 for the year, being an increas“of £250 on last year.—Approved. The following requisitions were also passed:—£2,9oo for Caversham Industrial School, 15s 9d for Burnham Industrial

School, £454 for the Roman Catholic Home at Nelson, £250 for Sonth Dunedin Industrial School, £l4 fis for Te Oranga Home (Christchurch), and £SO 14s for the Receiving Home {Christchurch). The sum of £146 6s, being amount collected from parents rf children in the industrial schools, was ordered to be lodged in the bank. A circular was read from the Department of Education requesting that Charitable Aid

Boards should revert to the old payment per week of 7s 6d instead of 6s fid as at present for the cost of keeping inmates in industrial schools.—Agreed to.

HOSPITAL BOARD.

A meeting of the above was then held. ‘ The Hospital Trustees’ requisition for £SOO for the month was passed. The Trustees’ requisition for the ensuing year was £6,000 for maintenance, and, in addition, a special requisition fa* £2,000 for extension of the Nurses’ Home and the provision of better accommodation for delirious patients, etc—The Chairman said that the amount for extensions and buildings, etc., would carry the Government subsidy of £ for £, and , the cost would be spread over the whole hospital district. 'lhe position had been forced on the Hospital Trustees by the medical staff, and additional accommodation was urgently required.—Approved.
