THE FRIEDMAN CASE.

As soon as tho Assembly met the Premier, who had previously announced that he accepted ell responsibility for the AttorneyGeneral's action in regard to Friedman, who was released within twenty-four hoars after a sentence of twelve months had been passed on him, tabled papers in connection with the case. Mr Carrnthers thereupon moved that the action of the Government in the Friedman case is a breach of the principles underlying the system of trial by jury. : On the Premier's motion, the House immediately adjourned. SYDNEY, October 1. (Received October 1, at 10.9 ajn.) The Friedman papers, which have been tabled in the Assembly, show that the Attor-ney-General recommended the release because the Judge had reported that hq believed Friedman to be innocent, and xeconv weudedhis immediate release; also that Mil Wont, who appeared, for the defence, wrote him officially expressing his opinion .that a gross miscarriage of justice had occurred. Mr Wise claims that he acted regularly and constirutjonallv, and with the object of redressing v-hai, he believed to be a miscarriage of justice.
