At ffillend on Friday evening Miss Budd, who is being transferred from the Hillend to the Milburn School, was entertained at a farewell social, and presented with a gold muff chain and Bible on behalf of the people of the district. The Rev. P. B. Fraser (ex-chairman of the Education Board) presided, and expressed his regret that Miss Budd was leaving the district. Mr J. S. Fleming has retired from the personal control of the 'Olutha Leader,' after a period of twenty-eight years, during which he has occupied the dual position of editor and proprietor.
