CRICKET.

SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP. The following are the results of Saturday’s matches:— Carisbrook A v. Albion. These teams met at Carisbrook on a perfect wicket. Carisbrook won the toss, and elected to take first strike, Mills and Burt opening to the bowling of Corbett and Spence. The batsmen scored freely from the jump, and 72 appeared on the slate before Burt was finely caught low down by Corbett off Windsor. On G. Austin becoming associated with Mills, a long and profitable partnership eventuated, and 170 was totalled before Spence broke up the combination by shivering Austin's timbers. Skdeberg helped Mills to swell the score by half a century, when the latter’s long innings came to an end by M‘Kay effecting a catch off Geddes. Mills has the honor of registering the first century in the Carisbrook ranks this season, and the lent was duly acknowledged by the sprinkling of spectators and players when he returned pavuionwards. His total included eleven 4’s. Except for one chance at 68, when be should have been easily stumped, his innings was a flawless one. Tearless ran into doable figures, but A. H. Fisher only notched a single, and Cuff and Harraway did not trouble the scorers or fieldsmen to any extent. Siedebe.rg and Rattray played out time, the score then standing at 300 runs for the loss of seven wickets. The following arc the scores ; - Cakisbeook A.—First Innings. This match was commenced on the Opobo Ground on Saturday, and tbe home team of that name proceeded to show their opponents what confidence they had in the pitch '-r knocking tip 277 in their first innhgs. The scoring by reason of its fastness end contmnitv from one hat to another ready palled oil tbe spectators, who began to speca late where Carisbrook were coming in. However, all cricketers have their days, and when Lean wem our. stumped by Tapley, Carisbrook gave a. united and powerful sigh of relief. No less than nine of Opobo's men reached double figures— M’Gavin 40. Watkins 56, Kilgour 37, Chadwick 41, Kckhoff 21. and Lear 19. Boundary hits were the rule, not the exception, and tbe match from a hitting point of view was worth seeing. Carisbrook B went in “just as the sm went down.” and lost two wickets for 18. Tbe latter stuck manfully to a disagreeable task, and their pertinacity will yet compensate them for the hill of Opoho. The scores were;
