SCHOOL COMMITTEES.

The monthly meeting of the Forbury Scnool Committee was held on Wednesday ; present—Messrs T. Smith (chairman), P. Johnson, G. Reid, W. Vickery, G. Parker, H. M. Stewart, T. Ashton, J. Bond, and D. Ritchie. The head-master reported that the school had reopened on Tuesday, and that the average attendance for Tuesday and Wednesday was 550 and the roll number 620. The annual picnic will be held at Waitoti on Monday next, the train leaving Hillside yards at 8.45 sharp. The Committee decided to recommend for appointment to the staff as an extra assistant Miss Gow. The meeting of tV Geonre street School Committee on Tuesday was attended by Messrs Adams (chairman), Black, Fraer, Carter. Millier, Christopher, and Farra. Messrs Black, Farra, and Adams were appointed a sub-committee to carry out the necessary duties in regard to the same. It was decided to appoint Miss B. Luscombe as female assistant. The Committee concurred with the Education Board in granting Mr D. •'•■ M'Nicoll leave of absence on an extended Home trip. A special meeting., of the Kaikorai School Committee was held last evening (presentMessrs Moh* (chairman), Bentham, ■ Bell, Colder, Stark, Scott, Matheson, Ferry, and Wilson) to consider applications for the appointment of a female teacher. After careful consideration, it was decided to recommend Miss A. C. Dow for the appointment At last night's meeting of the Milton High School Committee the resignation of Miss Nellie Gibb as junior female assistant was accepted with regret, and a sub-com-mittee was appointed to arrange a suitable presentation to the young lady. The secretary reported that the relieving teacher in place of Mr Paterson (appointed to the Hampden School) had taken up his duties. The Committee made a recommendation to the Board of three "eligible" candidates for the position of extra female assistant. ''
