A terrible blizzard swept over Canada, lasting sixty hours. The roads and railways are blocked with snow. Food is scarce in Montreal. A French barque foundered off the island of Ushant, and twenty-one of her crew were drowned. It is feared that fifty persons were drowned off the British coast. The present is the biggest snow fall fcr a quarter of a century. In Venice, Switzerland, and Spain the trains arc snowbound. Fatal avalanches arc reported from Switzerland and Austria.
