' The Times' Brussels correspondent says that the Sugar Conference are aiming ab a reduction of the sugar tax to a uniform rate of five francs. Messrs J. Edmond and Co. are the successful tenderers for the supply of stores on the Otago-Southland section of the railways for three years from April next foivthe under-mentioned classes:—General ironmongery, furnishing ironmongery, ship chandlery, oils and colors, drain pipes, leather, etc. Messrs A, Braco and Co.

are the successful tenderers for the same period of iron and steel, as well as brash* ware; and Mr W. J. Crawford for indiarubber goods.
