HEART'S HAVEN.

My way was shadowed o’er by sable sorrow, My life was mantled witli a starless night, I lived despairing that a sunlight morrow Would dawn to bathe my sombre soul with light, Till your dear form arose in son like splendor To shed its welcome rays, as from above— Till your sweet voice, in accents softly tender, Awoke my fainting heart to live and love. Where were you all the while tliat I was praying - For love —to set my soul from anguish free ? Say not o’er other hearts your smiles were playing— Those gunny smiles that now arc given to me. Dark clouds may gal her o’er the lamps of heaven, The angry tempests round my path may roar, Yet, steadfast still, yonr glorious light is given ; Light of my soul, shine on for evermore! D.M.B.
