NELSON, February 3,

Acquiescing in the suggestion of the townspeople of Nelson that the present trip —bis first official visit to Nielson—is being merely made in connection with the Diamond Jubilee festivities, Sir J. G. Ward has agreed to return in one week’s time on his way back from Westport. On that occasion he will receive'deputations, listen to grievances, and decide \ilidher Nelson is entitled to a new post nhicc. Nelson promises to put up a record in the way of fruit exported this year. Sir Joseph mentioned that in 1897 Hr expert was 15,236 cases, while up to date 32,862 cases have been sent away this ’’ear. The season is still unfinished. The present output this season is valued at £59,000 above that of last year.
