MEETINGS OF SOCIETIES

The annual meeting of the Phcenix Pin campmcnt, L0.0.F., was hem on hriday evening last at the Oddfellows’ Hail, Rattray street. Two candidates were initiated. The election of officers for 1902 resulted follows —C.P., Bro. M. B. Feil; H.P., Bro. C. MTeak; S.W., Bro. J. H. Him ton; J.W., Bro. J. Ellis; treasurer, Bro. D. M. Miller; scribe, Bro. J. A. Wafer; auditors, Bros. Nelson and Wardrop. At the fortnightly meeting of Court Excelsior, A.0.F., held in the Council Chambers, Momington, there was a large attendance. Official visits were received from Court Little John, Court St. Andrew, Court Pride of the Leith, Court Enterprise, Court Pride of Dunedin, and the members of the District Executive. The D.C.R., Bro. J. Hope, took the chair, and on behalf of Court Excelsior presented P.D.CJR. Bro. J. Paterson with a purse of sovereigns and an illuminated address. Bkk Hope expressed regret that Bro. Pateram found il necessary to resign the position of secretary, which he had faithfully filled for seventeen years. Bro. Paterson, who was greeted with three hearty cheers, suitably replied. Various members contributed items, and Bro. Powell gave seections from a phonograph made by himself. The toast of the visitors was responded to by the C.R.s of the various courts and the members of the District Executive. At the weekly meeting of the Allian-v Lodge, held in the Friendly Societies’ Hall, South Dunedin, there was a large attendance, Bro. George Thompson, C.T., presiding.
