LAKE LOGAN.

TO THE EDITOR.

Sir,—The attention of those responsible cannot be too urgently directed to the dangerously insanitary state of the foreshore and *' Lake ” Logan. It is unnecessary to draw public attention to the evil, for it obtrudes itself most disagreeably upon the olfactory nerves of all who are unfortunate enough to get within a considerable distance of the abomination, and the fact cannot be overlooked mat the condition of affairs at present existing is a serious menace to the health of a laree number of Dunedin residents. Around the shores of Lake Logan may hj« seen numbers of small dead fishes, lying about in the putrid shallows, killed apparently by the poisoned waters. On whom will the responsibility rest if the bacterial germs turn their attrition to men, women, and little children with fatal effect?—l am, etc., Sanitation. February 3.
