AN OBSOLETE ACT.
Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright.
LONDON, February L
The Lord Chief Justice and Justice Darling, while disclaiming any expression of opinion, granted a rule nisi compelling a magistrate to show cause why he should not issue summonses for the expulsion of Jesuits.
[On Monday last a cable message stated that a London magistrate had refused to permit a prosecution of the Jesuits under the Roman Catholic Emancipation Act of 1829. He gave no reasons for his decision beyond stating that the Act was obsolete.]
