The operations against the Waziris are arduous, and there is a good deal of hard fighting. There have been 100 British casualties since November, and there are 1,000 sick in hospital.

[Colonel Deane left for the Waziri borderland in November last to inquire into the Mahsuda rising. This tribe had made several attacks on frontier survey parties.]
