MR JENNER'S MURDER.
- ♦ Renter's Agency has received the following details of the way in which Mr Jenner, the British Commissioner in JubaJand, was murdered by the Ogaden Somalia t —The British camp was snddenly and treacherously at.tacked by the natives at four o'clock on the morning of November 16. Awakened by the cries of his men, Mr Jenner rushed out of his tent, and seeing his sentry being at-" tacked by a Somali armed with a sr)ear, at once went to his assistance. Although Mr Jenner was quite unarmed and almost without clothing, he closed with the'Somali and . threw him, and was in the act of strangling him when he himself was speared through the back and instantly killed by other Somalis. . Browne-: " How did you break your wife off buying cigars for you?" Towne: "When in the house I smokSd only those she bought me." "People are more incredulous each year," ' remarked the man who disbelieves in human nature. "I don't think so," answered the e optimist. " I have noticed that whenever tho thermometer goes above eighty-five, you can tell, anybody it is the hottest day ever known, and he wont doubt you for a second."
