HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS.
The High School sports, held at Carisbrook on Saturday afternoon, were a decided''success in every way. Some good finishes were -witnessed, and in one race, the 440 Yards, F. Scott established a record, cutting the distance out in 51|sec—wonderful tame for a boy, if correct. Afternoon tea -was provided and served under the superintendence of Mesdames Campbell, Watson, and Macpherson. The following concludes our report of the results s High Jump (open) Handicap. School record, sft 4in.—C. Gilrav (scratch) 1, W. TunibuU (lin) and G. Paulin (2in) equal for second place. Also competed : F. Scott (scratch), J. Nicolson (scratch), A. De Lautour (scratch), J. Adam (scratch), B. Shand (scratch), A. Thomson (lin), H. Tennent (2in). Five tied for first place, and in the jump off Gilray oleared 4ft Bin and won the event
One-mile Bicycle Handicap. School record, 2min 34gsec.—D. Whitson (80yds) 1, J. Douglas (50yds) 2. Also started: A. Orr (scratch), J. Dalrymple (100 yds). Won easily. Time, 2min 43|sec. 220 Yards Handicap. School recordj 24isec—J. Nicolson (scratch) 1, F. Scott (scratch) 2, Bauchop (15yds) 3. Also started: H. Henderson (4yds), W. Turnbull (4yds), C./ Gilray (6yds), J. R. Paterson (6yds), E. Finch (10yds), G. Gallaway (12yds), H. Tennent (12yds), G. Nicolson (12yds), J. Scott (12yds), Paulin (15yds), C. Wadie (15yds), W. Duncan (20yds). Nicolson got through his men in fine style, and won by a few inches; Time, 26j|sec. 220 Yards (Pirates and Carisbrook).—M. Sams (19yds) 1, N. G. Brewer (19vds) 2. Abo started: G. H. Buchanan (9yds), J. Miller (11yds), J. R. Burt (12yds), W. Boyd (13yds), A. H. Gregg (14yds), T. Murray (15yds), A. P. Cameron (16yds), W. Kempthome (18yds). A good finish. Time, 24fsec. Throwing the Cricket Ball. School record, 98yds Ift Bib.—T. Adams 1, F. Kahlenberg 2. Also competed: D. Dunbar, R. Farquharson, A. De Lautour, R. Fisher. Adams's throw was 79yds Ift. 220 Yards (raider 15). J. Allen (Zsyds) 1, Bayley (15yds) 2. Won anyhow. Time, 27gsec.
440 Yards: School record, 55sec.-~F. Scott (scratch) 1, Bauchop (40yds) 2. Also started: J. Nicolson (scratch), J. Paterson (20yds), G. Gallaway (20yds), G. Nicolson (20yds), A. Scott,(2syds), H. Hay (25yds), S. Foster (30yds). Scott and Banchop entered the straight together, and the former won after a hard struggle by a" couple of yards. Time, sl|sec. Half-mile (Old Boys).—T. Paterson (20yds) 1, J. Gow (15yds) 2. Also started: A. G. Fenwick (scratch), G. H. Buchanan (10yds), J. Matthewson. (15yds), G. H. R. Ulrich (15yds). At the finish Paterson was syds ahead. Time, 2min 15860.' s.
Potato Race, 210yds.—H. Henderson 1, W. Bathgate 2. Eight others competed. 440 Yards Handicap (under 15). School record, 611sec—J. Allen (50yds) 1, S. Paterson (scratch) 2. Also started: E. Farra (12yds), E. Calder (12yds), T. Wadie (12yds). —Waterson (20yds), Scrimgeour (30yds), R. Cook (35yds). ' THe scratch meu were handicapped out of the event, Allen winning with a good deal in hand. Time, 62! sec. Half-mile Handicap (D.A.A.C.).—-J. Stalker (30yds) 1, H. R. Bremner (50yds) 2, Also started: C. A. Cuff (scratch), V. S. Jacobs (12yds), W. Olsen (20yds), R. Mills (35yds). Won on the tape. Time, 2min 7 4-ssec.
