FIRE AT WELLINGTON.
WELLINGTON, January 18. Two three-storey ■warehouses in Willis street— viz., Wrigg'leswotfh and Binns, photographers, and the Singer Sewing Machine Company, were totally destroyed by a fire which broke out at five this morning- It is presnmed to baye started in the middle floor of at the buckLuckily there was a dead calm, and the fire brigade were able to prevent the spread of the flames to the adjoining buildings. Jte insurances on Wragglesworti und Binns's building (which was owned by Jacob Joseph) was £1,600 in the Commercial Union, with reinsurances as follow: £2OO in tho London and LancasMre, £l5O in tho Victoria, £SOO in the South British. Singer's building (also owned by Mr Joseph) was insured for £2,500 in the Commercial Union, who are reinsured to tie extent of £250 in the Sun, £250 in tb» Alliance, £l5O in the Standard, £2OO in tie London and Lancashire, £250 in the Australian Affiance, £250 lin tho Norwich Union, £250 in the Liverpool and London and Globe. The contents of Wsigglesworth and Binns's were insured for £4OO in the Alliance' and £l5O jn the Standard. The contents of Singer's premises are said to be insured in a Sydney office.
