VOLUNTEERING.

The regular meeting of the Dunedin District Volunteer Officers' Club took place at the commanding offioers' room, Garrison Hall, on Friday evening. The president (Colonel Webb) oocupied the ohair,. and there were present Lieutenant-colonel Da Lautour, Mfjor Smith, Captains Haig and Hislop, Quartermasters M'lndoe and Park (staff), Captain Morris • (Otago Hussars), Lieutenant Macdonald (North Otago M.R ), Lieutenant Fredrio (Dunedin Navals), Captain Ohalmer, Lieutenants Tapley and Nicoll (B Battery), Captain Barolay and Surgeon-major Will (Engineers), Lieutenant Douglas (City Guards), Captain Stoneham (Highland Rifles), Lieutenants M'Ara and Kerkham (City Rifles), Captain Armstrong and Lieutenant Washer (Wakari Rifles), Lieutenant M'Lsturin (East Taiori Rifles). The leoturer of the evening was Captain and Quartermaster M'lndoe, of the No. 1 Battalion Otago Rifle Volunteers, who took up the subject of ' Transport and Commissariat.' From his lengthy experience as quartermaster of the battalion, Captain M'lndoe was in a position to deal with his subject in a thorough manner, and threw out many suggestions whioh, if aoted upon by company offioer*, would tend to inorease the comfort, and at the same time lessen the difficulties connected with tho oarrying out of the routine of camp work. After discussion Captain M'lndoe was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for his address.
