MEETINGS OF SOCIETIES.

Under the auspices of the Great King street Congregational Charon Y >ung Meu'a Literary Guild, Mr G. M. Tnothson delivered a leetnre last evening on certain elementary laws dealing with atoms and molecules, illustrated by a few experiments. The lecture was full of interest from start to finish, and Mr Thomson was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. The Rev. G. Heighway presided, and the attendance was large. At the quarterly meeting of Linden Lodge, U.A.0.D., when there was a good attendance of members and visitors, the nominations of officers for the ensuing term were taken. Ooe candidate was initiated. The visitors were:—D G.P. Bro. J. W. A; Roberts, V.G P. Bro. Jack represented the D.G. Lodge, D. P. Bro. Reid No. 1 District, and Bro. M'Donald from Omaru. The evenipg's receipts were £2B 19i lOd.
