CONCERT.

Substantial assistance was rendered the funds of the Albion .Cricket Club as the re«ult of a concert held in the George street School Hall last night. A large number were present, and the chairman (Mr T. A. Maitland) said a great many additional tickets had been disposed of, bo the effort to provide fund* for the improvement of the Nonh Ground had [been satisfactorily accomplished. As to the concert, no "sUrs" were engaged, yet the result was good. The programme was contributed by Bingers seldom'beard in public, which in Borne cases is to be regretted, several proving themselves possessors of really good voices, with evidences of sound training. Eooores were lavishly bestowed till they were forbidden, the entertainment threatening to prolong itself unduly. Sentimental and comic items were judiciously interspersed, and now and again an instrumental selection or a step dancß broke the vocal monotony. Altogether a good evening's amusement was furnished. The vocalintß who took part were the Misseis Katie Robertson and Oliver, Mrs D. EL Thomson, Messrs C. D. Ross, A. Wright, Bert Hanlon, D. H. Thomson, and A. G. Robartf on ; Miss Jessie Allan gave a recitation ; Messrs Cox and Stokes gave a clever mandoline and banjo selection ; Mr J. Flint's orchestra played two lively selections; and Mr R. Clark danced a sailor's hornpipe and an Irish jig. The accompaniments were tastefully played by Miss Jessie Thomson. A danee, v to which a large proportion of the audience stayed, followed the concert.
