NORTH-EAST VALLEY BAND CONCERT.

"Rally round our Contingent" is the ever topic of conversation ; but the 1 public ought not to overlook other calls, and those more local. For instance, we would like them to "rally round the Va-lley' Ba.nd boys" ok their contest concert at the Garrison Hall on Friday evening next, the 23rd inst. The band have become popular through the advancement made in their playing, and also their willingness to help public entertainments and private charities. They are practising hard on the test selection, ' Guiramento,' and have also got nine soloists and a quartet, entered, so it is reasonable to expect some honors to come back to Dunedin. •In asking public support for their concert, it need only be mentioned that those who are giving their include Mrs R. Hudson, jun.. Miss Ray Davis-Marks, and Messrs James and Charles Coombs. The band will also play their two test pieces.
