PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH ASSEMBLY.

CHRISTCHURCH, .February 15. The Assembly of tho Presbyterian Church of Now Zealand recorded their regret at tho illness of the Rev, Gordon Webster, which had caused him to resign his connection with the ehurnh. They expressed high appreciation of his personal character and valuable services during twelve years, both to his own church and the colonial church in general, and their earnest hope was that he may so recover as to be able to serve tho church in the Old Land.

A vigorous discussion followed the presentation of the temperance report, and the Assembly unanimously expressed their gratification at the progress of the no-license movement, as shown at the last locU option poll, and adopted tho recommendation that a temperance sermon be preached in November.
