SLY GROG-SELLING.

STRATFORD, February 8, At the Magistrate’s Court this morning P. J. White pleaded guilty to two charges of selling liquor without a license at Whangamomona. Five other informations were then withdrawn by the police. The defendant was fined £25 on each charge, and £5 costs. TheM gi urate said that the failu* of the law to provide facilities for the granting of licenses in such localities was not in the interests of temperance, but he was determined to show that sly gr g-selliog wtu d not pay in this district. One mouth was allowed in which to pay the fine.
