MEETINGS OF SOCIETIES.

The adjourned fortnightly meeting of the Antidote Division Sons and Daughters of Temperance was held in tho Choral Hall on Thursday cvenins.% Bin. J. Arthur, W.A., in the chair. Sis. J. Johnstone, was elected W.P.. and Urn. T. Yates (assisted by Sis. A. Harrison) installed Sis. J. Johnstone as W.P. and Bio. J. M. Eraser a-s chaplain. During the evening Bro. Fraser was presented with an arm chair as a token of the esteem in which he is held by the members, who trusted that he would long live to use it. Receipts of the evening, £9 2s Id. The Guiding Star Juvenile Temple of Good Templars held their fortnightly meefing on Thursday evening in the Friendly Societies' Hall, South Dunedin. Superintendents Sisters Stubbs. Thomas, and Strang were in charge. There was a large attendance, and four candidates were initiated. Full arrangements were made for the visit to the Alliance Lodge for the treat to be provided by them. After the formal and routine business an excellent programme of harmony was given by Sister Frew (piano solo), Bro. Bush (recitation), Sisters ("hilds and Harwood (duet), Bro. Gray (recitation), and Bro. Stubb.-i (song). The vote to the visitors was responded to by Bro. Macliie, of the Pioneer, and Bros. Gray and Stubbs, of th« Alliance.

The grand concert and phonographic entertainment promoted by the Alliance Lodge of Good Templars was' held in their lodge room on Wednesday night before, a good audience. Kignor Ido ma.na.ged the. phonograph, a.nd some excellent records were given. Songs and recitations wcro interI sp/r.cd between the numbers by several members and friends. An invitation was received from the Port Chalmers Lodge to a, pound nicht. and accepted. A vote of thanks to iSignor Ido and those who had contributed to the programme was carried, and the meeting closed with the singing of the National Anthem.
