R. n-rry s gold dredge at Waikaka sank in about 14ft of water during Sunday's gale, presumably owing to a leak in the pontoons. Itispropo3ed to drain the water out of the dam and dismantle and J eb , u,!d the dredge. This will mean three months work and heavy loss to Mr Perry Messrs D. T. Fleming and J. W. Wilson (of Balclutha), who are interested in several dredging claims on the Clutba River below Tuapeka Mouth, and in respect of which the Clutha River Board have successfully objected, intend to personally interview the Premier, with a view to regulations being framed in order to permit the dredging of the-river below the point named.
