PUBLIC SERVICE CLUB.
The first annual dinner under the auspices of the Otago Public Service Club was held at the Shamrock Hotel on Wednesday evening ;MrC. C. Graham presiding. After justice had been done to the excellent spread provided by Host Coughlan, the usual loyal toasts wero honored. The health of the president was proposed by Mr A. Marryatt, who presented Mr Urahnm with a handsome companion case of pipes bearing the inscription: " Presented to C. C. Graham, Esq., president Otago Public Service Club 1897-98-99, by the members, 14th December, 1898." Mr Graham thanked the members for their present, and assured them he would always take an active interest in the club, and would at all times he happy to further its interests. Other toasts were duly honored, and during the evening songs were rendered by Messrs Downes, Falck, Isaacs, and Clothier, and a recitation iven by Mv Wallace.
