MAYORAL NOMINATIONS.

NORTH-EAST VALLEY, The following nominations were made to-day;— John Campbell, proposed by William Wood and John William Roberts. John Evans, proposed by James Halls Lambert and George Calder. Mr Evans said that at the request of a large number of ratepayers he had consented to seek re-election for the ensuing term. As they were aware, the past year had not been one of the quietest, owing to the tram question. As that matter would not be settled until some time in January he felt it his duty to again come forward, and if tho ratepayers thought his efforts would tend to a satisfactory settling of the difficulty he was prepared to offer his services. He would take the opportunity of saying that he would deal more fully with borough affairs before polling day. Mr Campbell was not present. Balcldtha —George Thomson and John Ramage have been nominated. Roslyn. —David Scott and Robert Watson nominated.
