ANGLING.

Anglers will oblige by forwarding to this office items of interest during the season. There is very little local angling news to report. The Waitati, Leith, and other local streams have been a good deal fished, bat no sensational takes have been made. Mr J. Ogg did well on both the Kakanui and the Tokomairiro. On the latter river he secured eight fish, tho lightest being 41b. The South Canterbury Acclimatisation Society's ranger and staff have succeeded in opening another capital mouth to the Opihi, the flood which came down this week materially assisting them their operations. The new moutn and scour-out the river has received from the flood should greatly improve the trout fishing, which for the opening month has been very poor generally.— ' Timaru Herald.'
