ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
Joseph Shrivenan, of Shrivenan Bros., Rutland street, Auckland, was found in his bedroom with his throat cut with a knife, having evidently committed suicide. A little boy named Augustus Slade fell over the Queen street wharf (Auckland) yesterday morning. His companion ran up the street and told Constable Oliphant, who jump in all standing and saved the boy, who was about to sink for the last time. This is the third person whom Constable Oliphant has rescued from drowning at the wharf. John Pringle, forty years of age, had the misfortune to fracture his left leg on Saturday evening by slipping on the edge of the footpath at the corner of Forth and Union streets. He was taken to the hospital, where he is now doing well. DANEVIRKE, October 31. Patrick Harding, thirty-five years of age, employed at the Co-operative Works, Ngaperuru block, was killed instantly on S*turday. A large log rolled down a siding, crushing his head and chest.
