LAND SETTLEMENT.

Twenty-four sections, mostly in Glenomaru and Catlins districts, were thrown open for selection on Wednesday. Only four, however, were applied for, and in those cases where more than one applicant had applied one or other withdrew, rendering a ballot unnecessary.
