LAND SETTLEMENT.
Twenty-four sections, mostly in Glenomaru and Catlins districts, were thrown open for selection on Wednesday. Only four, however, were applied for, and in those cases where more than one applicant had applied one or other withdrew, rendering a ballot unnecessary. The following are the sections taken up:— Section 4, block 4, Glenomaru district, containing 185 a 3r; cash price, 10s per acre; valuation for improvements, £l26.—Elizabeth Randall. Section 55, block 9, same district, containing 163 acres ; cash price, 17s 6d per acre ; valuution for improvements, £5Ol 16s.—William M'Phee, jun. Section 1, block 4, Woodlands district, containing 191 a 2r; cash price, 10s per acre; valuation for improvements, £2oo.—Joseph Reaney. Section 4, block 6, Woodlands district, containing 224 a3r 32p; cash price, 15s per acre.—John Peterson.
