John Hart, chief steward of the Rose Casey, Blipped when leaving the vessel at Auckland, and fell between the breastwork and the steamer, striking his head. A Hawera telegram states thit an inquest on tlje body of Wtn. M'Cormick, who was found in a convulsive state on a farm, resulted in a verdict of " Death from apoplexy." Mr John White, managing director of the Round Hill Mining Company, whose property is about four miles from Colac Bay, beyond Riverton, received the following message to-day from the secretary, Mr A. Reynolds :—" Robert Stewart was drowned in No. 2 paddock at 1 a.m. His body waß found blocking the mouth of the elevator, one arm being torn off by the jet. His mate did not go to work with him this morning." We understand that the deceased, in common with all the other employes of the company, had his life insured against accident. DANEVIRKE, October 6. William Wittle, middle-aged, was engaged bush-felling at Ngapaeruru, when a dry tree fell on him, breaking his hip and causing internal injuries, from which he died.
