The Bank of New Zealand shipped fortytwo bags of gold, valued at £63,000, by the Moan a on her outward trip. The Dnnedin City Guards' annual ball was held in the Garrison Hall on Friday evening, and proved a great success. Abont 100 couples were present, including Captain Smith", Lieut.-commander Allen, Lieutenant Baron, Sergeant-major Ribblewbite, and Sergeant Webb. Songs were contributed by Sergeant Douglas, Sergeant Moss, and Miss Lorimer, and a sailor's hornpipe by Mr Smith. Sergeants Douglas and Moss, Corporal Soutbgate, and Bugler Edwards were M.C.s, and the duties of secretary were carried out by Sergeant. Moss. Mr C. Hamann's band supplied first-class music, and the hall was decorated by Mr Sutton. Mr S. Lean's catering gave every satisfaction.
