Patrick O'Connor, described as "half ostrich, half man," champion sword-swal-lower, was sent to prison at Southampton on July 2 for six weeks for an assault on the police and for drunkenness. When the officer arreßted the prisoner he seized his chain, bib off the heavy whistle at the end, and swallowed it. He declared to the Bench that his. stomach, was a regular armorer's treasure houße.
