GREECE AND TURKEY.
EVACUATION OF THESSALY, FIRMNESS OF THE BRITISH GOVERNMENT. IT OCCASIONS A DEADLOCK. [Per Press Association,—Copyright.] CONSTANTINOPLE, August 19. . The British Government are firmly insisting on the Turkish evacuation of Thessaly and the withdrawal of troops beyond the line formed by the Peneis River, this retirement to include the evacuation of Larissa and Volo.
The Marquis of Salisbury demands that the evacuation shall take place immediately the treaty of peace is signed and prior to any payment of the war indemnity.
The attitude of Great Britain has produced a deadlock in the negotiations for the settlement of peace.
