CALCUTTA, August 19. Peshawar reports that a body of Afridi tribesmen are marching upon Jamrud, a strongfort at the mouth of the Khyher Pass, twelve miles west of Peshawar; whilst the Orakzais are marching irr 'forco upon Kuram Fort, another strategic, position at the entrance to Afghanistan from India, twentv-five miles S.W. of Jamrud, and upon Samana, a mountain range in North-, eastern Afghanistan, crowned by British! fortified posts between tho Hangu Valley and River Khost. The Sikhs outposts are concentrating at Fort Lochhart to intercept the march of the tribesmen. The wives and children of the officers and men belonging to the regiment have retired to Hangu, midway between Jamrud and Kuram, where a* British fort is situated.
