PERSONAL.
A pleasing ceremony took place on Friday evening at the Leith street Congregational Church, when the members of the choir presented Mr H. Pellitt (the conductor) with a slight token in respect to services rendered. Miss Benett (the organist), in making the presentation, referred to Mr Pelhtt's abilities, so gratuitously given. The Rev. W. M. Fell" also made I few remarks, after which Mr Pellitt feelinslv replied. "

Rasmussen was, on the occasion of his promotion to be station-master at Dip. ton, the recipient of a valuable set of cutlery, neatly set in an oak case. As Mr Paulin is indisposed with a severe attack of influenza the usual weather forecasts will not be available for some days. A highly successful farewell social was tendered by the Roslyn Wesleyan choir and congregation to Mr and Mrs Jamieson on the occasion of their leaving the district. Mr W. C. AUnntt, who occupied the chair, in making a presentation to Mr and Mrs Jamieson, referred in feeling terms to the respect and esteem which tbey Had gained during their long connection with the church and choir. Several others also spoke of their respect and also of their regret at their departure. The presentation consisted of a handsome set of carvers and butter cooler from the trustees and congregation and a silver-plated cake and fruit dish from the choir. A programme of songs and recitations was gone through, those taking part being Misses Don, Hodge, and Sunderland, Messrs Jamieson, Armitage, Hunter, and Ellis. The accompanists wpre Mrs Jamieson ar, d Misses Gregory and Mellor. A very enjoyable evening was spent. Mr Arrow, agent of the Bank of New mu afc Naßeb y» transferred to Dunedin. The following appointments to the staff of His .hxcellency the Governor are gazetted : Captain Dudley Alexander, the Prince of Wales's Own (West Yorkshire Regiment), to be private secretary and aide-de-camp ; the Hon. Charles Edward Hill-Trevor to be assistant private secretary ; and Lieutenant Henry Dudley Ossulston Ward, Royal Horse Artillery, to be aide-de-camp. Sergeant Roll, of the North Otago Mounted Rifles, contracted a bad attack of influenza while at Home. He managed to worry through the Jubilee pageant before knocking under, but was unable to attend either the naval review or the review of the colonial troops.
